La femme au corset qui tue

Annabelle Basurko and Pierre Carles

English
The shadow of the Au corset qui tue boutique and its owner Cécile Euzéby, a friend of the sulphurous painter-photographer Pierre Molinier, still hangs over Bordeaux's St-Pierre district. This woman, described by some as a “courtesan” or “witch”, once caused a fatal heart attack in a man she didn't like, just by putting on a corset that showed off her assets. This story gave rise to a veritable myth surrounding her, and her mysterious disappearance around 1990 kept the legend alive. What became of Cécile Euzéby? And what was going on at the end of the last century in this working-class district of Port de la Lune, now gentrified and converted to tourism?
