The Horses Were in his Head

Gocho is the leader of the Gadzehf clan. He lives with his family in Mérignac, a suburb of Bordeaux, on a plot of land filled with shacks and caravans. Vaska, his wife, always seems upset. His son Kolo thinks only of partying, drinking, and dancing; he has fallen into heroin use and no longer looks after his own son, Petit-Goché, who desperately wants to go to school like other children.

 

Gocho is a singer and a scrap metal dealer, and he sees ghosts. One of them, a former love, has been haunting him in particular lately. The police are prowling, too, and eviction seems inevitable.
